what is there to say?

this week was interesting. i think i blew out the emergency brake on my truck. whoopsie.

this week has been pretty good. we've been pretty busy. the mission president came to santo on wednesday and thursday so. i picked him up from the air port and he took us back to my apartment and took pictures of like. everything. commenting that this was one of the more clean apartments that he'd seen. woot.

as a maintenance elder, i've learned to fix stuff vanuatu style. aka if it works, don't touch it. doesn't gotta be pretty. so the solar batteries up in palon got overcharged when lightening stuck the solar panels. so we grounded some of the charge by connecting the batteries to the chainlink fence and throwing a smallish pig at the fence. #legendary.
this week we had 2 famili haos nites or in english. family home evenings. lots of food. lots of driving around in our car. driving makes everything like 900 times faster and more comfortable. we can cover all the appointments in our whole big area much faster by cutting down the travel time between appointments. #effective

one of the recent converts in our area has a little brother. and this little brother(like 17 years old) and his 2 friends(also teenage?) are super interested in the gospel and 'takem stadi witim yutufala' and so we started teaching them and they're basically the best people ever. cuz i can relate to them cuz i was just a teenager like. last year. and i can tell when they're listening or spacing out and they actually read the pamphlets and stuff we give them and basically they're the best people ever.

what is there to say? i need a haircut. i also acquired a slowcooker aka crock pot so all the food i cook is gonna be cooked in there now. easier, tastier, ect....

that's all for now. didn't really take any pix this week. busy busy..

when the truck stalls on a busy hill street.

this week was very very busy.

i have now learned more or less how to drive a stick shift. experience is a hard teacher. i haven't crashed yet so. that's good. but i'll keep you posted.

there's a lot of stuff i could tell right now but most of it is probably boring to you fellas...
right now we're teaching a part member family. the two kids were baptized last year. but the mom is very strong in her church. but! she loves the missionaries and wants them(us) to come to her house like all the time.
and so last week. and this past month or so. i've figured out the lessons that i teach turn out much better when the spirit leads the lesson. by saying that i mean. i ask a open ended question and then based on how they answer and what thoughts come in to my head we have much more tailored to their needs and much more spiritual lessons.

that happened with this part member family. we asked a really open ended question and found out that this mama, though having met with missionaries many times in the past, still had many confusions and unanswered questions about the book of mormon. really great lesson. really really great.

my adapter for pix is broken i think. sorry. no pictures for now.

prayer has power. faith is the first step.
love y'all. k byeeeee

there and back again, a story of gaua

hello friends.

gaua was amazing. the members of the church in gaua are very humble and loved every moment we spent with them. it was only 10 days and the last time missionaries were in gaua was 14 months ago. whilst there we taught and baptized 5 people into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints.

but, due to the lack of AC power, (solar only) i could not charge my camera... so my camera died 1/2 way through so i have relatively few pictures... sad right?
also on gaua not eating any dairy products or very much meat at all, basically only stuff from organic island gardens. and even though i ate to forcingly full like every meal, i lost 5 pounds. wowie. might try that again sometime again in america.

we got back to santo on thursday. and we kinda just. went around and tried to re-find everyone that we were teaching before. but due to the holidays and such, a lot of people aren't home and so. yeah. it's been kinda a slow week.

this week is kinda like the instant classic electronic video entertainment game mario kart 64. when in the last lap, the music speeds up and all the good power ups start dropping and there's only a short time left? that's this week. transfer calls come next week and all the investigators or people we're teaching. only 1 week left.

life is good. i've gained a much greater appreciation of the luxuries of modern life such as a gas stove. and umbrellas. the work moves forward! im grateful to have this time to be here. internet is really slow today so... pictures post poned until next week.

that's all for now!
